It all began in mid-autumn of 2016 in the mountains of Masi Di Cavalese in Italy as I was visiting the area on work commitments.

Myself and my good Italian friend took his dog out for a walk in the nearby woods. The beautiful surroundings took my breath away and for a split second, I was in a different world...The silence was broken by a local gentleman who as we noticed had a white dog that was searching around the trees. Gazing upon the very interesting animal it was pointed out to me that the gentleman walking with the dog wasn’t too happy about our presence there. Highly fascinated by the dog we stood back and watched. Seeing our excitement the gentleman approached us and said something which made me even more struck- the dog was searching for truffles. It was amazing to look at that little fluffy creature and seeing how enjoyable the hunt was for her. We got invited back to a local cafe with the gentleman.

We had the best Italian coffee and spoke for hours regarding the Lagotto Romagnolo which he called "Sofia."
She was such a sweet girl- the first one from her breed I had ever seen... Upon my return to England, Sofia was always on my mind.

I tried to look into the breed more and was shocked by the lack of information, breeders and owners in England. The breed was always something I kept looking up, but for the next two years not much has happened. Upon my next trip to North Serbia. I saw one... a Lagotto. The members of Sofia’s family came flooding back.

Back at the Hotel, I have done some research about the local Lagottos and was shocked with the amount I have found in Serbia. With some spare time, I wanted to explore more and therefore we got in contact with some local breeders. Exciting news came along and an opportunity to purchase a lovely girl arose. Her face was so cute the tail did not stop moving...she was so happy. The happiness radiating from the dog convinced me to purchase the little lady and call her Pippa- I knew I had to bring her home with me. After meeting the local breeders in Serbia we developed multiple work relationships which resulted in bringing more Lagottos to England. That year was a valuable experience focused on exploring the breed and aiming to discover various bloodlines of the area.

This time allowed us to achieve a high level of knowledge about the Lagottos and therefore enabled us to bring the best dogs and start our own breeding program. We are not about mass breeding. It is about selective breeding and educating the public of England in Lagotto Romagnolo and ensuring that the history of the Lagotto Romagnolo lives on.
